Ingredients

  • 20-25 4 inch cucumbers (washed)
  • 1 clove garlic, per jar
  • 1/8 tsp powdered alum, per jar
  • 2 heads fresh dill, per jar
  • 1 cup pickling salt
  • 1 quart distilled white vinegar
  • 3 quarts water

Preparation

Step 1

Wash cucumbers & let stand in cold water for 1 hour.

Pack into hot sterilized jars.

To each quart add above amount alum, garlic & dill.

Combine salt, water & vinegar; heat to boiling.

Fill each jar with hot liquid to 1/2 inch from top.

Wipe rims, place lids & rings.

Hot water bath for 10 minutes.

Remove to a kitchen towel & allow to cool & seal.
