Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter (softened)
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 lg egg (slightly beaten)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tblsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tblsp salt
  • 3 cups flour
  • 3 teasp baking powder
  • 1 cup fresh figs (chopped)

Step 1

Lightly spray 15" jelly roll pan, set aside.

In large bowl, cream butter & 1 cup sugar, add egg and beat until light.

Mix milk & vanilla.

Sift flour, salt & baking powder together & add alternately with milk to creamed mixture. Blend well.

Roll out on a lightly floured surface to 1/8 inch in thickness rectangle.

Cut into half, place 1/2 on jelly roll pan.

Put figs in sauce pan with remaining sugar and 1 cup boiling water, bring to a boil for 5 minutes; cool.

Spread cooked mixture over 1/2 of dough on jelly roll pan.

Cover with other half of dough.

Bake @400 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned.

Cut into oblongs.

Store in airtight container.
