Ingredients

  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 2 lg egg whites
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup Karo syrup
  • 1 lb shelled nuts

Preparation

Step 1

Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees.

Place butter in 15" jelly roll pan and place in oven until melted.

Remove pan from oven and set aside.

Beat egg whites and salt in medium bowl with mixer at medium speed until foamy.

Add sugar and beat until soft peaks form.

Beat in Karo.

Stir in nuts, coating well.

Pour mixture into prepared pan, spread in single layer.

Bake 10 minutes. Stir nuts throughly. Return nuts to oven to bake 10 minutes longer.

Return nuts to oven to bake 10 minutes longer.

Stir, and bake 10 more minutes

Remove from oven. Stir for 5 minutes to break up nuts and cool slightly.

Continue stirring and breaking up nuts until lukewarm, 15-20 minutes.

When cool enough to handle, separate into small pieces and cool completely.

Store in air tight container
