Strawberry Nut Cake

Ingredients

• 1 cup shortening
• 2 cups sugar
• 4 lg eggs
• 1 teasp vanilla
• 2/3 cup buttermilk
• 1 cup whole wheat flour
• 2 cups white flour
• 1/2 teasp salt
• 1/2 teasp baking powder
• 1 teasp soda
• 1 cup strawberries (pureed)
• 1/2 cup nuts (chopped)
• 1 cup pureed strawberries
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 teasp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Pre heat oven to 325 degrees, spray a 9" X13" baking pan.

Combine first 12 ingredients & mix with electric mixer until well blended.

Pour into prepared pan & bake approximately 60 minutes.

While cake is baking, combine last 3 ingredients and mix well.

After removing cake from oven, pour icing over warm cake.
