Ingredients
- 1 cup oatmeal
- 1 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2 lg eggs
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 teasp vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups sifted flour
- 1 teasp baking soda
- 1 teasp nutmeg
- 6 tblsp butter (melted)
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1 can coconut
- 1/2 cups chopped pecans

Preparation
Step 1
In a small bowl combine oatmeal & 1 1/4 cup water, set aside.
Combine shortening, eggs, brown sugar & vanilla; add oatmeal mixture
Add flour, soda & nutmeg, mix well.
Pour batter into a sprayed 9" X 13" baking pan, bake 25.
While cake is baking, in a small saucepan, combine last 5 ingredients & bring to a boil.
Remove cake from oven & pour hot topping over.
Bake an additional 10 minutes.
Serve warm.
