My Grandmother, Flossie Snow, had a large garden and grew all her own fresh vegetables. She made this Chow Chow every year and shared it with her family and friends and you really can't find a better one. Make it with love and share it with people you love. Clean and sterilize 24 wide mouth pint jars. Prepare lids & seals.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups Onions (chopped)
  • 4 cups Green cabbage (chopped)
  • 4 cups Green tomatoes (chopped)
  • 12 Green bell peppers (chopped)
  • 6 Red bell peppers (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup Salt
  • 6 cups Sugar
  • 1 tblsp Celery seed
  • 2 tblsp Mustard seed
  • 12 teasp Tumerick
  • 4 cups Vinegar
  • 2 cups Water

Preparation

Step 1

Finely chop the first 5 ingredients in a LARGE pot.

Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of salt and let soak over night.

Wash & drain mixture.

Add the rest of ingredients and bring to a boil for 3 - 4 minutes.

Put in jars and seal.
