Ingredients
- 1 large loaf French bread, cut into 1.5" slices
- 3 1/2 cups milk
- 9 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 6 to 8 medium baking apples, such as McIntosh or Cortland, peeled and sliced
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- Powdered sugar

Preparation
Step 1
1. Place bread slices in greased 9 x 13 inch glass baking dish or casserole.
2. Whisk milk, eggs, 1 cup sugar, vanilla and salt in large bowl until well blended. Pour half of mixture over bread.
3. Layer apple slices over bread. Pour remaining egg mixture over apples.
4. Combine remaining 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg in small bowl; sprinkle over casserole. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
5. Preheat oven to 350F. Bake, uncovered for 1 hour or until eggs have set. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
