Tomato Salad with basil-buttermilk Dressing

Ingredients
- 2 cups packed fresh basil leaves ( about two large bunches)
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 4 pounds firm ripe tomatoes
- fesh basil sprigs

Preparation
Step 1
1.Blend 2 cups fresh basil, buttermilk, sliced green onions and salt in food processor until smooth, transfer to bowl. Add mayonnaiseand pepper and whisk till smooth. let stand for 30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper( Can be made 8 hours ahead, cover tightly and refrigerate)
2.Core and slice tomatoes. Arrange on platter. Spoon enough dressing over tomatoes to coat. Garnish with basil sprigs. Serve, passing extra dressing separately
