Ingredients
- pizza sauce:
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tbsp shortening
- 1 pkg yeast
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 4 cups sifted flour
- 1 small onion
- 2 tbsp salad oil
- 1 can tomatoes
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp oregano

Step 1
In large bowl dump water, shortening, yeast and salt. Let stand until shortening melts and yeast softens. work in flour,transfer dough to well-floured board and knead until smooth. place dough in oiled bowl, brush top with a little oil, cover and let stand in warm spot until double.(about 45 minutes) punch down dough, divide it( 2 cookie sheets) and coat pans with oil. roll each portion on floured board and put in pan. sprinkle dough with oil and spread with sauce. 450 25-30 minutes.
sauce:
chop onion, heat oil in saucepan, toss in onion, add tomatoes and remaining ingredients. cover, cook slow for 30 minutes. makes 2 1/4 cups sauce
