Ingredients

  • 1 # chestnuts(2 cups boiled)
  • 2 cups celery
  • 1 cup onion
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 4 qt dried bread
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 tsp ground sage
  • 2 tsp thyme
  • 2 tsp rosemary
  • 1 can undiluted chicken broth

Preparation

Step 1

put chestnuts in cold water, cover boil, reduce heat, simmer 15 minutes. drain, peel and skin.while warm, chop coarsely. cook onion and celery in butter till tender. put in turkey or bake in casserole last hour-basting with turkey drippings.

I omit onion and use undiluted mushroom soup instead for chicken broth.
