Ingredients

• 3 cups sugar
• 1 cup light cream
• 1/8 tsp soda
• 1/4 cup butter
• 1/2 tsp vanilla
• 1 # pecans

Preparation

Step 1

melt 1 cup sugar in heavy skillet over low heat, stirring constantly until melted and light colored. pour slowly into saucepan containing remaining sugar and cream. cook to firm ball stage(245 degrees) stirring constantly, remove from heat, add soda and stir vigorously. add butter, cook 10 minutes, add vanilla and beat until mixture is thick. blend in nuts, spread in greased 9 x 12 pan. cool, cut in squares.
