Ingredients

  • Frosting:
  • 1 pkg Bakers German sweet chocolate
  • 1/2 C boiling water
  • 2 C sugar
  • 1 C butter
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/2 C cake flour or reg flour
  • 1 tsp B soda
  • 1 C buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 egg whites beaten stiff
  • 1 C canned milk
  • 1 C sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1/2 C butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Cook over med heat about 12 min then add 1 1/3 C coconut and 1 C chopped pecans

Step 1

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks one at a time. Then add melted chocolate and vanilla. Add dry ingredients alternating with buttermilk. Fold in beaten egg whites.
Makes 3 layers. Bake at 350 35 min
