Ingredients

  • Roll in:
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 &1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 tbsp. ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar & 2 tsp. cinnamon

Preparation

Step 1

Cream shortening, gradually add 1 cup sugar beat at medium speed. Add egg, beat well. Stir in molasses. Combine flour & remaining ingredients.
Stir well & chill.
Combine cinnamon & sugar in bowl. Roll chilled dough into balls & roll in sugar mixture. Place on greased cookie sheets, top with cinnamon dot & bake at 350 degrees for 14 minutes. Tops will crack.
