Preparation
Step 1
1. Dissolve yeast in water. Combine and mix olive oil and yolk and add yeast mixture. Sift together flour, salt and sugar then add slowly to yeast mixture.
2. When batter gets stiff, knead by hand and continue kneading for five minutes, until dough becomes elastic. Shape into a ball. Place in lightly greased bowl; turn once. Cover with plastic wrap; refrigerate 3 to 4 hours or overnight.. Turn out on a very lightly floured surface and divide dough into 20 equal parts. Cover; let rest 10 minutes.. Roll each piece of dough under hands to form a pencil-like rope 9″ long and 3/8″ in diameter, adjust length to fit optional browning tray. Smooth each rope as you work. Place ropes 2″ apart on optional browning tray
3. You will have to bake in several batches. Add 1 tablespoon water to egg white; beat until frothy. Brush egg white mixture over dough. Let rise in a warm place until doubled (45 to 60 minutes). Brush again with egg mixture; sprinkle with coarse salt, if desired.
4. Bake in Flavorwave oven at 400°F about 10 minutes or until golden brown.
