INSTRUCTIONS
Heat chili in the microwave (or on the stovetop) until bubbly. Combine chili, cream cheese, 3/4 of cheese, garlic salt, chili powder and cumin in a small bowl then stir to combine. Taste for seasoning then add more if desired. Spray an 8-in pie plate (or something similar in size) with cooking spray then spread chili mixture into plate.
Unroll crescent dough then cut each triangle into three long triangular shaped strips of dough. Roll one cocktail wiener in each strip of dough to make “pigs in a blanket”. Place “pigs in a blanket” around the outer edge of the pie plate. Place the extra “pigs in a blanket” in another baking dish to cook separately.
Sprinkle remaining cheese in the center of the pie plate over the chili mixture. Bake, uncovered, at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until “pigs in a blanket” are golden brown and cheese is bubbly. Remove from oven then garnish with fresh chopped chives if desired.
Notes:
Serve with additional “pigs in a blanket” and tortilla chips. This recipe makes a lot of chili dip so having the extra “pigs in a blanket” and chips will ensure it all gets gobbled up!
I use Hormel chili with no beans but feel free to use your favorite brand or use chili with beans.
Feel free to use taco seasoning in the chili dip instead of the spices I have listed.
I use Hillshire Farms Lit'l Smokies
