Wellesley Fudge Cake

I found this recipe in my grandmother's recipe box. It didn't list cooking time or oven temperature but it should be comparable to a box cake but much better tasting.

Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar, divided
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cup milk
- 4 squares chocolate, melted
- salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla

Preparation
Step 1
Cream butter and 1 cup of sugar. Add egg yolks, 1/3 cup milk and remaining sugar. Beat. Alternate flour sifted with baking powder with the rest of the milk. Add melted chocolate and vanilla last. Bake in (2) 8" X 8" pans or 1 large pan. Frost when cool.
