Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 cup of butter - cut up
- 2/3 cup buttermilk
- 1 tbsp milk
- 1 tbsp sugar

Preparation
Step 1
Combine the first 5 ingredients, cut in the butter with a pastry blender (you can use two knives or the mixer) until the mixture is crumbly .
Add the buttermilk stirring just until moistened.
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead 5-6 times. Pat into an 8 inch circle and cut the dough into 8 wedges
Place one inch apart on a greased baking sheet and brush with the last two ingredients (the milk and sugar- you can mix them or brush the milk and sprinkle the sugar, it doesn’t need to be that exact amount)
Bake at 425 for 15 minutes or until the scones are golden brown.
