  • 1 german chocolate cake mix
  • 1 1/2 sticks butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 14 oz caramels
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup pecans
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1

1. Mix german chocolate cake mix, butter and evaporated milk together until well combined. Carefully spread a thin layer (I try to use just under half) of this batter into a greased 13x9" baking pan and bake at 350F for 12 mins.

2. Meanwhile, melt caramels in evaporated milk until no longer lumpy.

3. Once first half of batter is baked, drizzle caramel, chocolate chips and nuts on top. Carefully spread remaining cake mixture over the top and return to oven for 20 mins.

4. Let cool completely and cut into small pieces.
