Ingredients

  • 2 c butter
  • 1-1/2 c onion, chopped
  • 24 c bread (3 loaves)
  • 3 c celery
  • 2 Tbsp salt
  • 2 tsp pepper
  • 2 Tbsp sage
  • 1/2 Tbsp poultry seasoning - add to taste
  • enough broth to moisten (I usually use most of a carton)

Preparation

Step 1

Melt the butter in a large skillet. Add celery and onion and cook slowly until tender.

Cool slightly.

Tear bread into large pieces and place in a large bowl.

Sprinkle seasoning over bread.

Add butter mixture to bread. Mix with your hands until well combined.

Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.

Bake covered at 350 for 45 minutes to an hour.
Uncover for the last 15 minutes if desired.

Can be make the night before.
