Ingredients
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1/4 c. butter
- 2 T. corn syrup
- 1 T. sugar
- 1 t. cinnamon or apple pie spice
- 3 lg. apples, peeled & chopped
- 1/2 c. chopped pecans
- 10 eggs
- 1 c. milk
- 1 t. vanilla
- 1 t. salt
- 1 loaf, 1 lb. day-old cinnamon raisin bread
Preparation
Step 1
In a saucepan, combine brown sugar,butter & corn syrup. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Cook & stir 2 minutes. In a small bowl, combine apples, lemon juice, sugar & cinnamon. Cube bread & put half into the bottom of a greased 9x13 pan. Spoon apples over bread. Drizzle with half of caramel sauce. Sprinkle with pecans. Top with remaining bread & caramel sauce. Combine eggs, milk, salt & vanilla. Pour mixture over bread & let set at room temperature for 1 hour. Bake @ 350 for 45-50 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes & serve warm.
