Flaky Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

• to make Snickerdoodles for a variation:
• 2/3 cup Crisco solid shortening
• 3/4 cup sugar
• 1/2 tsp grated orange peel (opt)
• 1/2 tsp vanilla
• 1 egg
• 4 tsp milk
• 2 cups flour
• 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
• 1/4 tsp salt
• mix sugar and cinnamon to sprinkle over cookies before you bake them

Preparation

Step 1

Cream butter and sugar well.
Add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition.
Mix flour, salt, baking powder and soda.
Add to creamed mixture.
Drop by spoonfuls on a greased cookie sheet at least 1 inch apart.
Flatten with a spatula into circles about 2" in diameter.
Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon sugar mixture to make Snickerdoodles if you wish.
Bake at 400 degrees 10 to 12 min.
