Ingredients

  • 2 cups broad noodles
  • 2 quarts boiling water
  • 2 tsp cooking oil (optional)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp hard margarine
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp all purpose flour
  • salt, sprinkle
  • pepper, sprinkle
  • 1 cup milk
  • 6-1/2 oz. canned flaked tuna, drained
  • 2/3 cup cooked peas, fresh or frozen
  • 1/4 cup coarsely crushed corn flakes (or grated medium or sharp cheddar cheese)

Preparation

Step 1

Cook noodles in boiling water, cooking oil and first amount of salt into large uncovered saucepan for 5 to 7 minutes until tender but firm. Drain. Return noodles to saucepan.

Melt margarine in separate saucepan. Add onion. Saute until soft.

Mix in flour, second amount of salt and pepper. Stir in milk until boiling and thickened.

Add tuna, peas and noodles. Stir. Turn into ungreased 2 quart casserole.

Sprinkle with corn flakes crumbs. Bake, uncovered, in 350 oven for about 25 minutes.
