Ingredients

  • Dry Ingredients:

  • 2

    cups sugar

  • 2

    cups flour

  • cup cocoa

  • 1

    teaspoon baking soda

  • ½

    teaspoon salt

  • Wet Ingredients:

  • 2

    sticks butter

  • 1

    cup water

  • ½

    cup buttermilk

  • 2

    eggs

  • 1

    teaspoon vanilla

  • Frosting:

  • 1

    stick butter

  • ¼

    cup cocoa

  • 6

    tablespoons milk

  • 4

    cups powdered sugar

  • mini marshmellows (optional)

Directions

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix dry ingredients of cake in large bowl and then set aside. In saucepan, bring water and butter to a boil. Pour over dry ingredients and mix well. Beat in buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla. Mix well. Pour mixture in greased and floured 15 X 10 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-35 minutes. Frosting: Heat butter, cocoa, and milk and bring to a boil. Pour over powdered sugar and mix well. Add in marshmellows, if desired. Spread frosting over hot cake. Let cool and enjoy!
