Kunafa

Directions 1. In a heavy bottomed saucepan over medium-high heat, add water, the 1 1/2 cups sugar and lemon juice
- 1 lb konafa pastry dough (can be found in most middle eastern, arab or greek grocery stores or markets)
- 1⁄2 lb butter, melted
- 1 1⁄2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1⁄2 lemon, juice of
- 1⁄2 teaspoon rose water or 1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1⁄4 cup blanched whole almond
- 1⁄2 cup golden raisin
- 2 cups walnuts, coarsely chopped (or 2 1/2 cups pistachios and omit raisins)
- 2 1⁄2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 lb soft ricotta cheese (this is an alternative filling, if using ricotta omit the nuts, raisins, cinnamon and the 2 1/2 tbsp)
- butter, for buttering the pan

Creamy Garlic pasta

Boil a salted pot of water for the pasta

- 8 ounces uncooked pasta I used linguine
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon flour
- 2-3 cloves garlic minced
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy/whipping cream
- 1/3 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley chopped, to taste

To make the filling: Bring a medium-size pot of water to boil over high heat

- 1/3 cup whole milk
- 3 eggs
- 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 8 1/2-inch-thick slices of stale white bread
- 8 anchovy filets, finely chopped
- 1 ball buffalo mozzarella (about 8 ounces)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup loosely packed parsley leaves
- 2 tablespoons roughly chopped dill
- 2 tablespoons thinly sliced shallots

- Horseradish Burger Sauce:
- 1 slice hearty white sandwich bread, torn into pieces
- 1 shallot, minced
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 4 teaspoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/4 teaspoons minced fresh thyme
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 pounds 80 to 85 percent lean ground pork
- 4 hamburger buns, toasted and buttered
- 1 recipe Horseradish Burger Sauce
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 Tbsp sour cream
- 1-2 Tbsp prepared horseradish
