Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds Yukon gold or other yellow-flesh potatoes
  • 1/3 sliced green onion
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup whipping cream

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 2-quart square baking dish. Scrub potatoes thoroughly with a brush. Thinly slice potatoes; you should have about 5 cups potato slices. Layer half of the sliced potatoes and half of the green onion in the prepared dish. Sprinkle with half of the salt, pepper, garlic, and cheese. Repeat layers. Pout whipping cream over top.

Bake, covered, in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Uncover and bake for 20 30 minutes more or until potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork and top is golden brown.
