Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 small onion, cut in half lengthwise, sliced
- 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1 tsp dried bay leaves
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup finely chopped peeled cucumber
- 1/2 cup chopped seeded tomato
- 1 container (8 oz) low fast plain yogurt (1 cup)
- 1 tsp ground pepper
- 1/4 cup sliced ripe olives
- 4 pita breads, heated
Preparation
Step 1
1. In 10 inch skillet, cook beef, onion, garlic, bay leaves and 1/4 tsp of salt over medium high heat 5 to 10 mins, stirring, until beef is thoroughly cooked; drain.
2. In medium bowl, mix cucumber, tomato, yogurt, ground pepper, and remaining 1/4 tsp salt. Stir olives into beef mixture.
3. On each of 4 plates, place 1 pita bread. Spoon 1/4 of beef mixture on half of each pita. Top each with a spoonful of yogurt mixture; fold other half of pita over filling. Serve with remaining yogurt mixture.
