Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 and 1/2 cups sugar, divided
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tblp oil
- 2 cans (14 and 1/2 oz each) water packed, pitted red tart cherries, well drained
- 2 to 3 drops red food coloring (optional)
- 1/8 tsp almond extract
- Whipped cream
Preparation
Step 1
In mixing bowl, combine flour, 1 cp sugar, b.powder, milk and oil. Pour into greased shallow 3 qt baking dish. In bowl, combine cherries, food coloring, extract and remaining sugar. Spoon over batter. Bake at 375 for 40-45 minutes or until wooden pick is clean. Serve warm with whipped topping
