Banana Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 c. brown or white sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs, unbeaten
  • 1 1/2 c. mashed bananas (3 or 4)
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in bananas and lemon juice. Sift flour, baking soda and salt, add and mix quickly. Stir in nuts. Bake in greased 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pan at 325 degrees for about 1 hour or until done when tested. Cool on wire rack.
