Baked Cabbage with Onions

Ingredients

  • 1 cabbage, cut into 4
  • 4 onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 2 T melted butter
  • Salt & pepper
  • Dash of paprika

Preparation

Step 1

Place cleaned cabbage in large saucepan containing plenty of boiling salted water. Cover and cook 18 minutes over medium heat. Drain cabbage well and set aside.

Preheat oven to 350 deg.

Heat 3 Tbsp butter in large deep skillet. When hot, add onions and seasonings. Cook 15 to 18 minutes over low heat. Stir several times during cooking.

Add cabbage to skillet and mix in sour cream. Correct seasoning and cover; bake 30 minutes in oven.

Remove cover and sprinkle top with bread crumbs and melted butter. Change oven setting to broil and brown for 4 minutes.

Serve sprinkled with a dash of paprika.
