Apples a la Mode

Ingredients

  • 3 T. margarine
  • 3 T. brown sugar
  • 1/2 t. cinnamon
  • dash nutmeg
  • 3 large apples
  • 1 T. lemon juice
  • 1 qt. vanilla ice cream
  • 1/3 c. walnuts or pecans, chopped

Preparation

Step 1

In medium skillet over medium heat melt margarine. Stir in brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Peel, core and cut apples into ¼” slices. Add apple slices; stir to coat. Cover and cook 5 minutes; add lemon juice; cook 5 minutes longer, or until apples are tender. Serve warm over ice cream in dessert dishes; sprinkle with nuts. Garnish with fresh mint. Serves 6.
