Ingredients
- 5 yellow onions
- 1/4 pound butter
- 3 bay leaves
- 1 tablespoon thyme
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup brandy
- 2 cups red wine
- 1 gallon beef stock
- Croutons to taste
- Gruyere cheese to taste
Preparation
Step 1
In Dutch oven, cook onion and butter until caramelized. Add bay leaves, thyme, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, brandy and wine. Simmer for 1/2 hour. Add beef stock and simmer for another 1/2 hour. Before serving, top with croutons and Gruyere.
