Brown Rice and Lentils

Quick and tasty complement for meat or fish dishes. Can add any fresh or dried herbs: rosemary, thyme tarragon all work well

Ingredients
- 1 cup brown rice
- 1 cup dried lentils
- 4 cups water or chicken broth
- 1/2 tsp salt
Preparation
Step 1
In med saucepan with tight fitting lid, combine all ingredients. Bring everything to a full boil then adjust heat lower, just enough to maintain a slow steady simmer.
Continue cooking until rice and lentils are tender and liquid is absorbed, about 45 minutes
Turn off heat and let stand for a few minutes before serving.
