Ingredients
- ¾ cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp cloves
- ½ tsp ginger
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 cup raisins
Preparation
Step 1
Cream butter and sugar in large mixer bowl until light and creamy. Add molasses and egg. Beat until well blended. Combine flour, baking soda, spices and salt. Gradually add to creamed mixture. Mix well. Stir in raisins. If desired, cover and chill about 1 hour for easy handling. Shape dough into 1” balls. Roll in sugar to coat well. Place on greased baking sheet. Press with fork or bottom of glass dipped in sugar to flatten slightly. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes, or until set. TIP: Coarse sugar adds a special taste.
