Ahi Tuna Tartare With Avacado

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces ahi tuna steaks
  • 3-1/2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 large avacado, peeled, pitted and diced
  • 1 jalapeno chile, seeded, devined and minced
  • 1/3 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/3 cup red onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 2 teaspoons fresh oregano, chopped (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

1. Brush tuna with 1/2 tablespoon of the oil and sprinkle it with salt
and pepper.

2. Put a heavy skillet on high heat for a few minutes, then sear the tuna
for about 3 minutes on each side. The tuna should be brown on the
outside and nearly opaque on the inside.

3. Let the tuna cool, then chop into small pieces.

4. Combine all the ingredients, stirring just to blend.

5. Salt and pepper to taste, then chill.

6. Serve with tortilla chips or baguette slices.
