Marasshino Cherry Bars

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 12 oz maraschino cherries drained(save juice) and chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • FROSTING
  • 1 Tablespoon Soft butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Preparation

Step 1

preheat oven to 350*
mix flour, sugar, and butter until crumbly
press into 9X13 pan
bake for 20 minutes
blend eggs, brown sugar, salt, baking powder, and vanilla
stir in chopped cherries and nuts
pit on top of crust
bake 25 minutes
let cool
FROSTING
combine the butter and powdered sugar
add the saved cherry juice a little at a time until you get the right consistency to drizzle the frosting over the cooled bars
