Beer-Spring Onion Mustard

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp veg oil
  • 2.5 lbs Vidalia onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup mustard powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1/3 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 cup pale ale

Preparation

Step 1

Heat a large skillet over high. Add veg oil, swirl to coat. Reduce heat to medium. Add onions, stirring often, until very soft, 30 minutes. Stir in mustard powder, salt and turmeric. Cook, stirring, for 3 minutes. Add vinegar and raise heat to high. Add pale ale, stir, cook until thick, 5 minutes. Let cool completely.
