Ingredients
- 1 can pitted dark sweet cherries, 1 pound
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- few drops red pepper seasoning
- dash salt
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
Preparation
Step 1
Drain syrup from cherries into a 2-cup measure; add water to make 1 1/2 cups.
Blend a few tablespoons syrup into cornstarch until smooth in a saucepan; stir in remaining syrup, mustard, molasses, red pepper seasoning, and salt. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and boils, 3 minutes.
Stir in cherries and lemon juice, heat slowly just until bubble. Serve hot.
