Strawberry Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 6 T flour
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 t salt
  • 4 cups milk
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 1/2 pints strawberries
  • 2 T lemon juice
  • 4 cups half & half
  • 2 T vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

In 3 quart saucepan with wire whisk combine flour, 2 cups sugar and salt. Beat in milk and eggs until well blended. Cook over medium low heat stirring until thick and mixture coats back of spoon (30-45 minutes).

Cover surface with plastic wrap and cool for 2 hours. Meanwhile, crush berries with lemon juice and 1 cup sugar. Let stand 1 hour. Pour half & half, vanilla, egg mixture and strawberry mixture into ice cream maker and freeze according to directions.
