Marinated Lemon Grass Beef

Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless sirloin steak , cut into thin strips
  • 3 stems lemon grass, white part only, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped roasted peanuts

Preparation

Step 1

Place the beef strips in a large glass bowl. Put the lemon grass, onion, garlic, fish sauce and sugar in a separate bowl and mix together well. Pour the marinade over the meat and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 3 - 4 hours.

Heat the oil in a wok until very hot and stir-fry beef in batches over high heat for 3 minutes, or until just browned. Toss constantly to make sure the small pieces of onion and lemon grass don't scorch.

Return all the meat to the wok. Add the peanuts and toss quickly until combined. Serve immediately with noodles or rice.
