Foolproof Broccoli and Sesame Rice

Step 1

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 1/2 cups water, 1 cup long-grain white rice, and 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt and bring to a boil. Stir once, reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 12 minutes. Sprinkle in 2 cups finely chopped broccoli florets and cook 5 minutes more. Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork. Fold in 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds and 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil before serving.
