Ingredients
- 2 pounds stewing beef
- 1 tablespoon shortening
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 medium can tomatoes
- 1/3 cup vinegar
- 1/3 cup brown sugar firmly packed
- 1/2 cup onion finely chopped
- 1/2 bay leaf
- 1 small green pepper cut in thin strips
Preparation
Step 1
Brown beef. Add salt, tomatoes, sugar, vinegar, onion and bay leaf. Cover and cook slowly for 2 hours. Add green pepper and cook 15 minutes longer. Thicken juice, if desired, with some cornstarch. Serve over hot rice or noodles.
