Ingredients
- 4 pork chops
- 2 small onions, sliced
- 2 tbsp. flour
- 1-1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- pepper, freshly ground
- 1/2 tsp. dry sage or 1 tbsp. (15 mL) fresh sage chopped
- 1/2 tsp. dry thyme or 1 tbsp. fresh thyme, chopped
- nutmeg to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Place pork chops in large cold frypan over medium high heat. Brown chops on each side; reduce heat. Add onion slices and 1 tbsp. (15 mL) water. Cover and cook over low heat until chops are completely cooked, about 25 minutes. Remove chops to warm platter. To 2 tbsp. (25 mL) pan drippings, add flour and blend until smooth. Over medium heat, add milk, stirring constantly until gravy thickens and boils. Blend in salt, pepper, herbs and nutmeg. Simmer for 2 minutes, to blend flavours. Pour over pork chops.
