Ingredients
- 1 tsp. Dried Thyme
- 1 tsp. Salt
- 1/4 tsp. Black Pepper
- 3 Lb. Beef Brisket
- 1 Tbs. Olive Oil
- 1 Lg. Red Onion, sliced (3 Cups)
- 1 (14.5 oz.) Can Beef Broth
- 1 (8 oz.) Can Tomato Sauce
- 1/2 Cup Dry Red Wine
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix thyme, salt, and pepper in a small bowl and rub into both sides beef brisket. Brown brisket in oil in a Dutch oven over medium high heat. Brown brisket for 3-4 minutes on each side. Transfer to a plate. Cook onion in drippings in Dutch oven until slightly softened, about 2 minutes. Stir in beef broth, tomato sauce and red wine. Return brisket to Dutch oven and cook covered for 1 hour. Lower oven temperature to 325 degrees. Baste with drippings, cover and return to oven for another 2 hours or until done.
