Apple Crumb Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 single pie crust
  • 1 2/3 c granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 c flour
  • 3 1/4 t cinnamon
  • 5 lbs. Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, sliced
  • 10 T butter, melted
  • 1 T confectioners' sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Place jelly roll pan on rack in center of oven. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

On lightly floured surface, roll out dough. Fit into 9" deep dish pie pan. Flute edges. Refrigerate.

In bowl, combine 1 c sugar, 1/2 c flour and 1 1/4 t cinnamon. Add apples and toss to combine. Transfer to crust.

Combine remaining flour, sugar and cinnamon. Stir in butter until mixture comes together. With hands, squeeze mixture to form crumbs.

Place crumbs over filling. Bake on hot pan 2 hours or until golden and filling is bubbly. Cool. If desired, sprinkle with confectioners' sugar before serving.
