Date and Nut Bars

A classic Italian dessert

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs, room temperature
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 pound walnuts, chopped
  • 1 1/3 pound dates, coarsely chopped
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cup flour

Preparation

Step 1

1. Preheat oven to 375. Slightly grease a 9x11 pan

2. Mix flour, sugar and baking powder. Set aside.

3. Mix eggs and vanilla, set aside.

4. Chop walnuts and dates. Add to dry ingredients.

5. Add eggs and mix well. Batter will be very sticky. Ensure that you mix thoroughly.

6. Place mix in pan, evenly and press down.

7. Bake for 30 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
