Baked Ziti Supremo

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Ricotta Cheese
  • 12 oz. Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 pound Provolone Cheese, sliced
  • 1 pound ziti
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion,sliced
  • 1 teaspoon dry basil
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 40 oz. spaghetti sauce
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 3 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan Cheese

Preparation

Step 1

Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook pasta in boiling water for 10 - 12 minutes until al dente. Drain water from pasta.

Heat olive oil over medium heat cooking the onion, basil and garlic until brown. Remove from pan into small bowl.

Cook ground beef over medium-high heat until evenly brown. Stir in the onion mixture and the spaghetti sauce. Season with salt. Reduce heat to low, and simmer for 15 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 9 x 13 baking dish. In the prepared dish, layer 1/2 of the cooked pasta, provolone cheese, sour cream, ricotta cheese, and a little less than 1/2 of the meat mixture. Then layer the rest of the pasta, mozzarella cheese, remaining meat mixture, and parmesan cheese.

Bake for 20 - 30 minutes, or until heated through and cheeses are melted.
