Ingredients
- 1/2 lb. butter
- 2 c. bread crumbs
- pinch sugar
- pinch cinnamon
- 3 c. flour
- 1/4 c. melted butter
- 1 1/2 warm water
- pinch salt
- 10 peeled, grated apples
Preparation
Step 1
Melt butter (warm, not hot). Use some of the melted butter on the bread crumbs and add a little sugar and cinnamon. Combine flour, melted butter, warm water and salt. Knead well by hand in a bowl then on a floured board. Place on slightly warm pan over warm water to rest. Cover with a dry warm cloth for approximately 20 minutes. Keep air off, so the top does not harden.
Grate apples. Place dough on dry cloth on table, (LIGHTLY FLOURED CLOTH). Roll a little with rolling pin. Pour on a little melted butter (cover dough completely with butter). Then pull out, sprinkle with bread crumbs. Cover with shredded apple and sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon and a little melted butter. Roll up. Place on well buttered pans. Butter top and bake at 425 F for 15 minutes then 350 F for 20 minutes until apples are tender and the crust is brown.
