I use an 8 inch iron skillet. This is the way Coblers was made when I was a child.

Ingredients
- Crust
- 3 cups flour
- 1 cup crisco
- 1/2 stick cold butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 about 3/4 cup water
- Filling
- 24 ounces Blackberries
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 4 tablespoons flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- Mix altogether ,set aside
Preparation
Step 1
Put flour,salt and crisco in a large bowl ,using pastry cutter ,cut crisco in,add butter and cut it up leaving chips of butter, add water a little at a time until it all comes together.
Roll dough into a thin large circle about 16 inches fold and place into 8 inch iron skillet unfold , fill and dot with 3 tablespoons butter fold sides up over filling brush with melted butter sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Bake 400* for about 1 hour.
