Spicy Chicken Lazone

By

A New Orleans favorite, highly seasoned chicken breasts are simmered down in a rich cream sauce. Nobody has to know about its quick and easy prep. Serve over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or angel hair pasta, if desired.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken tenders (I had 10)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, divided
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Preparation

Step 1

Combine chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and salt in a small bowl. Sprinkle over one side of the chicken.

In large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of the butter over medium-high heat. Add the chicken tenders, seasoned side down. Sprinkle remaining seasoning over chicken and cook until done, turning once, about 5 minutes.

Add the cream and remaining 2 tablespoons butter to the skillet.

Reduce heat to medium and simmer until the sauce thickens.

Serve chicken and sauce over angel hair pasta, egg noodles, or mashed potatoes, if desired.
