Apple Raisin Cinnamon French Toast Casserole

Must be made the night before serving

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 t. cinnamon
  • 1/4 t. nutmeg
  • 1/3 c. oleo, melted
  • 4-5 apples, sliced
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1 loaf French bread(cut in 1 in. slices)
  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 T. vanilla
  • 2 t. cinnamon

Preparation

Step 1

In lge. mixing bowl, combine br. sugar, cinnamon, & nutmeg. Add melted oleo. Stir in apples & raisins, mixing until well coated. Pour into greased 13x9 baking dish. Layer bread slices evenly over apples.

In bowl, beat eggs, milk, vanilla, & 1 1/2 t. cinnamon. Pour over bread, soaking each slice. Sprinkle top lightly with remaining cinnamon. Cover & chill in fridge overnite.

Bake, covered at 375 degrees for 40 minutes. Remove foil & bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand several min utes before serving.
Serve with warm maple syrup.
